Fit-for-Role learning solutions from the Imperial Logistics Academy

1 March 2017

The Imperial Logistics Academy delivers fit-for-role learning solutions aligned to business strategy and performance. “Our goal is to empower employees and help them grow and develop their skills and capabilities, in order to place them firmly on the path to career success,” says Imperial Logistics Learning and Development Executive Norah Munyai.

The Academy is Imperial Logistics’ dedicated training facility. Munyai reveals that it has some new initiatives planned for 2017. “We understand the challenges that employees face, and one of our key initiatives for 2017 is to create flexibility and balance between learning and work, with some new methods to be rolled out for the delivery of our learning solutions.” A focus on cost effective learning programmes also forms part of the Academy’s goals for 2017.

Munyai says that companies that partner with the Imperial Logistics Academy ensure that employees’ performance gaps are closed, and are able to create a pipeline of talent and prepare for succession planning.

As a first step to partnering with the Academy, she says that companies should discuss skills gaps, employees’ aspirations and learning requirements with their own line and human resources managers, to ensure the delivery of successful, impactful programmes. “Our value offering includes, but is not limited to, solutions that target all core competencies and critical skills at all levels.”

Some popular programmes offered by the Imperial Logistics Academy include “People Management & Leadership”, “Essential Soft Skills”, “Technical Related Development” and “Business Tools”.

The Academy, in collaboration with all Imperial operating companies, places graduates, interns, learners and apprentices on a yearly basis, enabling them to acquire valuable workplace experience through business focused projects. “We ensure that they do not only gain workplace experience, but also contribute to and deliver tangible results for the operating company that they are seconded to,” Munyai stresses.

The Imperial Logistics Academy has established itself as a premier venue for all organisational training and for conferences. The Academy is situated in tranquil surroundings, with lush gardens and water fountains surrounding the training and conference rooms. The facility is located in close proximity to OR Tambo International Airport.

“Our aim is to open doors for our trainees and graduates. We strive to get the best from our Imperial people, and to enable them to make the most of themselves,” she concludes.
