Tanker Services history

What was to become Tanker Services began as D&H Tankers in 1959, operating articulated vehicles in the greater KwaZulu-Natal region. As the company grew, chassis-less, stainless steel and liquid petroleum gas tankers were added to the fleet and D&H Tankers expanded to open depots in Germiston and Stikland.

In 1973, D&H Tankers listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, later appearing in the Financial Mail’s Top 100 companies in South Africa. The company was renamed Tanker Services when it was acquired by Imperial Logistics in the early nineties.

Our goal to become a leader in bulk transportation was realised through great industry and product knowledge, skilled staff and a performance-driven culture. Thanks to rapid expansion of Tanker Services’ client base, the company was divided into two divisions: Food & Chemicals and Fuel & Gas.

Tanker Services Food & Chemicals

Tanker Services Food & Chemicals takes pride in being the South African market leader in bulk tanker and tipper transportation. We are capable of handling any product on a washable or dedicated basis with a footprint that extends from South Africa to Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Our extensive industry and product-handling experience, technical and operational expertise, and modern and technologically advanced fleet make us the natural choice of supply chain partner. We are committed to attainting and maintaining the highest of HSSE standards to ensure the wellbeing of all staff and the environment around us. TETA-accredited driver trainers operate on site to continually renew and review drivers’ skills.

Our strategically located wash bay facilities situated at the Jacobs, Stikland and Germiston depots utilise a high-pressure steam application with industry approved cleaning materials. Certificates of cleanliness and other customised reports are available on request. The washing process is carefully categorised by product to eliminate the possibility of contamination.

Tanker Services Fuel & Gas

Tanker Services Fuel & Gas offers primary and secondary bulk road transportation. Due to the potentially hazardous nature of what we transport, we comply with stringent HSSE practices and standards and have industry accreditations from RTMS, CAIA and SQAS.

Tanker Services Fuel & Gas stays up-to-date with industry standards and best practice, continuously evaluating our services and standards. We have introduced innovations into our business including iCAM, tank-gauging technology and an automated self-briefing system developed in-house.

We are proud to be market leaders in this field thanks to our robust national and cross border infrastructure, first-rate fleet, extensive experience and state-of-the-art facilities. Our service offering extends beyond South Africa into Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
